RENEWAL AND SELF-CARE AT HOLIDAY TIMES
‘Tis the season to be jolly’ – and yes, sometimes the jolly turns into a pure folly. With all the demands and stresses that holidays bring, there may be a sense of overwhelm, fragmentation and a loss of joy…
Let’s consider that most of the time, we are there for our clients, coworkers, parents, children, community and our time and energy flow – outwards. While it is noble and often necessary to be dedicated to the needs of the external world, there comes the time to balance the outflow of energy. Let’s consider the provocative notion of self-care and renewal. It is timely now, when the old year is nearing its end to consider a “renewal”.
If you think that you don’t have the time or resources – you are wrong! You do not need an expensive get-away (although if you can afford it, go for it!), the elusive renewal can happen right in your home, in your neighborhood coffee shop, in your bathtub, in the park, on your sofa… What kind of self-talk would be empowering?
What do I need to do to create a “sacred” time for myself?
What am I willing to let go off?
What kind of conversation do I need to have with my family to support me?
What type of change needs to happen to create a “sacred” space?
What will help me to regain focus?
What is the spark and passion that had me start on this journey?
What do I need to honor myself for who I am – unconditionally?
Best wishes and to all of you – Happy New Year!
