Training and Re-Training

For me, running and training for an event is iterative. I train with input from my coach, then I do the event.  Then I analyze the run/event, consult with the coach, and train for the next event.  I do strive to improve.  I set goals.

My bottom line goal is to cross the finish line.

It is during the training runs and then the analyzing of the running event–with self, with running buds, and with coach– that I have my a-ha’s, my learnings.
Some of my a-ha’s are really excuses. ( It was a very cold winter up here in the northlands, and I didn’t run as many days of the week as I should have.  So, get out and run anyway. ) Some learnings are re-lessons.  Things I KNOW, but didn’t practice and I need to learn them again.  And sometimes there are new lessons.

And such is how the process of becoming doctoral goes.
Life-long learning:  Learn. Reflect. Apply.  Re-learn.  Re-reflect. Re-apply.

Learning is an exchange of ideas through conversation. Conversation with self, with authors, and with others.

Embrace throughout coursework and the disseration and learning, and therefore progress, will be made.
