In the past, the one-on-one time I have spent at Colloquias reviewing previous papers, the information received from faculty on re-writes for publication potential was extremely valuable. I would certainly consider a Dissertation Writer's Retreat.

Writing Faculty Stone Shiflet shares:

For some time, Capella has offered a Track 4 option to learners who want to get more information on certain pieces of the Track 1-3 process. So for a daily fee, Learners can return to a regular colloquia to attend sessions of their choice.

For a dissertation writer, however, the Track 4 concept cannot address the specific needs of the writing assignment. Colloquia are now guided by workbooks that are specific for the Track, so joining in this cycle for one session can not offer a focused reply to quesitons common during the dissertation process.

At the Dissertation Writer's Retreats, learners work with faculty who are focused on giving guidance for this specific writing project--the book-length research project that involves a proposal, research execution, and data interpretation. At the Retreats, learners have access to 1-to-1 writing experts, library experts, irb experts, and methods research (quantitative, qualitative, and mixed). The retreats are focused solely on the Dissertation writing process, and learners can pick and choose appointment times as those appointments meet their needs.
