Be proactive
by Constance Davis | June 10, 2009
On a regular basis I have discussions with learners who seem to sit back and wait. And wait. And wait.
What are they waiting for? Waiting for mentors to contact them. Waiting for advisors to contact them. Waiting for the warnings that another milestone deadline is approaching. Waiting for people to remind them of something or to tell them what to do.
It seems so simple, but we all can be more proactive. Learners who are working on their dissertations should know when milestone deadlines are approaching and take care of extensions before ever receiving a warning. They can check the deadlines on their milestone transcripts, which they can access through their student centers. Learners can contact their mentors and ask them the questions that only mentors can answer. Learners can ask their advisors another whole set of questions. And Capella has plenty of others who can answer questions ranging from Financial Aid counselors to librarians.
Just ask. Start communicating. Stop waiting.

I’m curious to wehn will I be granted a financial aid award so that I can accept or decline. Not only that, I need to begin my ordering process considering that class begins Monday June 7th. Can someone please help me by telling me when it will be available and how quickly I can get my books ordered?
