Avoiding burnout

There once was a learner named Bryte,
Who always wrote both day and night,
Then she began to take breaks
For fun, lakes and cakes
Till school and life balance was right.

One Response to "Avoiding burnout"
Julie Anderson-Manrique says:
There once was a learner who wasn’t a fella
She taught at a college and “learned” at Capella
The end of coursework in sight
focus eluded her each night
She thought: why’d I put myself through this hell-a?
Projects began to pile up, falling farther behind
Focus lost. Sanity tossed. No more the boss of her mind
Should she sit out?
Should she reroute?
She pondered these thoughts all the time.
what she needed was vacation
to increase her concentration
incompletes became temptation
yet she forged on towards her goal.
Do you have some sound advice?
That can loose me from this vice?
And entice me to persevere, not veer
off the path I’ve set my light?
Yes, I know I can finish these few classes,
then I’ll study for my comps,
go and write that dissertation,
till then I need t’get pumped!
Are you out there, who like me,
started strong and then went whacky?
Can you give me sound advice
to set me straight
regain my focus?
hocus pocus’s what I need.
Can I do this? Yes, I can.
By God’s strength I’ll persevere
plodding plodding, I can tell ya
one day….I’ll be that doctor from Capella
