To address a growing demand, Capella has created a new Alumni Library that provides access to scholarly journals, magazine and newspaper articles, encyclopedias, e-books, and dissertations to support your research needs.
Emily Waitz, a Capella librarian, says the databases that alumni will have access to are geared to meeting their most common needs. “The databases have a scholarly focus, and they are resources you wouldn’t typically find at a public library,” she says.
Alumni Director Jen Swanson says Capella alumni rely on the library for gaining knowledge about their industries. “They are accustomed to getting the information as learners, and many alumni tell me it’s devastating when they no longer have access to it,” she says.
Learner Barbara Gaubeca, who works as a reference librarian at a community college in southern California, is delighted that she’ll continue to have access to the databases after she graduates. “I am just thrilled,” she says. Being able to tap into such resources is a great way to keep one’s research ability up to speed after graduation, Gaubeca says.
Access your new Alumni Library through iGuide. Use your learner ID and password to reach the library. (If you’ve forgotten learner ID and password, you can request a reminder on iGuide.)
