Previously, one of our learners, Charlie McClain, was awarded a $12,000 scholarship from ISC2 for his information security dissertation work. While I am a bit late, I want to congratulate him on this fantastic accomplishment.
Dr. McClain’s work, “The Acceptance and Effectiveness of Federal and State Information Security Regulations in Multi-branch Community Banks: A Phenomenological Analysis Conducted in Central California,” will go a long way in helping the financial industry understand various state and federal regulations to improve information system security.
Congratulations Charlie.
More information on the ISC2 scholarship can be found here.

Hello, and welcome to this community of scholars, practitioners, and users in the field of information assurance and security. In this community, in the hopes of better protecting our nation, we strive to provide a virtual home for practical guidelines, understandings, cross-disciplinary research, and direction for future research as it pertains to the area of information assurance and security.
Security might be considered to hinge on two main concepts – trust and value. Do we find value in the security mechanisms we use? Can we trust these mechanisms? Otherwise, these mechanisms may not be utilized, and the consequences could be severe.
As we continue into the 21st century, security will be a key factor in everything we do β and we may wonder whether or not we can really say, βIn security we trust?β
