Welcome

From Dr. Steven Brown | October 22nd, 2008

Hello, and welcome to this community of scholars, practitioners, and users in the field of information assurance and security. In this community, in the hopes of better protecting our nation, we strive to provide a virtual home for practical guidelines, understandings, cross-disciplinary research, and direction for future research as it pertains to the area of information assurance and security.

Security might be considered to hinge on two main concepts – trust and value. Do we find value in the security mechanisms we use? Can we trust these mechanisms? Otherwise, these mechanisms may not be utilized, and the consequences could be severe.

As we continue into the 21st century, security will be a key factor in everything we do – and we may wonder whether or not we can really say, β€œIn security we trust?”

You can leave a response, or trackback from your own site.

Hi Dr. Brown. It seems that Capella has updated the Ph.D. in Information Technology-Security to Ph.D. in Information Assurance and Security. If this is the case, then Information technology is moving towards quality assurance with service, functionality and security as elements to give IT governance the ability to manage and control multiple functional areas within IT.
