Agricultural Crime and Safety?
When discussing security, we normally think of things like policies, hacking, terrorism, etc. But the same attention is not given to our food supply.
Why?
With all of the media attention that has been paid to e-coli, salmonella, infected imports, etc., over the last few years , wouldn’t a mass scale attack on our food supply send the population into panic?
Agricultural crime is not new: trespassing, arson, growing illegal substances, are common. What would it take for a coordinated attack to introduce a bacterial agent into the food supply? While many of our nation’s critical infrastructure facilities have security measures, the food we eat may not have the same measures.
It’s an interesting process that needs more research. How long before these types of crimes morph into more dangerous kinds like the electronic attacks we have witnessed over the years. Read more here.
I’d be interested in hearing your perspective.
