I tried to email a US senator who was a supporter of PIPA today and found the website down. Connection? Got me thinking about anonymous and the culture of ‘payback’ that has populated the tech. world recently. Might there be some security implications to those who support or oppose this legislation? I had heard a lot of the hype about SOPA and PIPA, but I am glad you posted the link, because I was kind of a little in the dark about it. It does become I think more of an issue of jurisdiction and physical placement of servers. I wonder if they could tailor a law to not include jurisdiction, but maybe users with high volumes of downloads? I know that is going to most likely fringe on privacy concerns. Maybe partnering with other governments to try to have them implement their own DMCA type laws.
