Department of Defense Information Assurance Scholarship Program
Capella was designated as a Center for Academic Excellence in Information Assurance Education (CAEIAE) by the National Security Agency and the Department of Homeland Security in 2007. Capella is one of only 94 higher education institutions to receive this designation.
Because Capella has been designated a CAEIAE, Capella learners are able to participate in the annual Department of Defense (DoD) Information Assurance Scholarship Program.
In order to promote the education, recruitment, and retention of information assurance and security students, the DoD has established a scholarship for concentrated studies in information assurance. Qualified applicants include undergraduate students who have completed at least 90 credits and graduate/doctoral students.
Highlights of the scholarship program include:
Benefits
- Full tuition, books, and expenses.
- $12,000 per year stipend ($17,000 for graduate students).
- Information security internship with the Department of Defense and a professional position with the federal government at the completion of the learner’s program. Please note, this internship requires you to fulfill a period of obligated service with DoD in Washington, D.C.
- This is an excellent opportunity to potentially receive full-time conditional or permanent positions in agencies and components of the DoD upon program completion. Some locations include (but are not limited to):
- National Security Agency (NSA)
- Defense Security Service (DSS)
- Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA)
- Naval Research Laboratory (NRL)
- Army Research Laboratory (ARL)
- Department of Homeland Security (DHS)
In 2008, Capella’s first year of participation in the DoD scholarship program, a Capella master’s learner was awarded one of these prestigious scholarships.
