Recognition
Special Recognition for Information Security Learners
As a learner in the information security specialization at Capella University, you have the opportunity to obtain recognition* for coursework you’ve completed that meets national standards established by the National Security Agency (NSA). The NSA’s Information Assurance Courseware Evaluation (IACE) Review Committee has validated that Capella’s information security curriculum meets the Committee on National Security Systems (CNSS) National Standards 4011, 4013, 4014. The IACE Review Committee validated the mapping of the following courses to 4011 and 4013 at 100 percent:
IA Training Standard 4011 |
IA Training Standard 4013 |
What does this mean for you?
If you have completed all of the courses outlined for one or both of the national standards, you may request an acknowledgement of your achievement from Capella University’s School of Business and Technology. View a sample acknowledgement award. Please note that completing all of the course requirements for the information security specialization does not mean that you will automatically earn this special recognition. You must complete all of the courses mapped for IA Training Standard 4011 and/or IA Training Standard 4013, which may mean taking courses above and beyond those required in the specialization. The following are the recommended courses you should take to meet both the degree requirements and the requirements for 4011 and 4013 recognition.
Core Courses:
TS5004 – Technical Communications – 4 credits
TS5010 – Introduction to Enterprise Application Architecture – 4 credits
TS5011 – Managing People and Technology – 4 credits
TS5130 – System Development Theory and Practice – 4 credits
TS5536 – Ethical and Legal Considerations in Information Technology – 4 credits
