The RFID Security Alliance has posted a call for papers for their RFID Security Workshop in Istanbul this spring. RFID technologies are being used in everything from supply chain management to passports. Security and privacy concerns and failure to develop robust solutions are a challenge for these technologies. If you are looking for a way to contribute to the information security community, RFID security is a worthy place for you to put your time and attention.
What do you think about the state of RFID security and the impact it may have on the use of this technology?

Introduction
A significant benefit of the move toward electronic creation and storage of personally identifiable health information is the opportunity for secondary use of this data. This shift toward electronic health data is being further enhanced by the development of compatibility and interoperability standards for core data elements that will be included in electronic health records, as well as standardized formatting of the data elements themselves. In addition, the security of this data is paramount. Considering the information and the consequences that may happen if this data is released, substantial efforts to safeguard this data are required. Finally, the push towards the development of regional health networks (RHIOs) and national health networks (NHINs) create the final piece of infrastructure that will allow researchers and public health and safety officials the tools they need to engage in global health monitoring. The focus of this book is to explore the new opportunities that these changes create in the field of healthcare monitoring and research as they relate to the areas of public health and homeland security. The book will also explore the ethical issues that are created by widespread availability of personally identifiable health data and the potential impact on the subjects of that data. READ ON
