About Us
Erika Bennett – Information Literacy Librarian
I work as the Information Literacy and Instruction librarian. My favorite things include 1) impersonating an extreme sport enthusiast and 2) writing about myself in the third person. I have won many awards and certificates over the years, including Female Athlete of the Year in my high school class of 30 and Most Likely to be a Librarian from my college Future Librarians group. I was born on a Montana cattle ranch, and my mother’s rhubarb pie continues to steal the show at brandings, but sadly, I never quite got the hang of roping little dogies. In my last academic librarian job, I worked for a lot of guys…who at one time…worked for Prince. I have a studio art and philosophy background, and Ralph Nader once helped me personally on an assignment.
Kim Staley – Instruction Librarian and Liaison to the School of Public Service Leadership
I started at Capella in 2003 as a Learner Support Specialist, then joined the Capella Library in 2006 as the Interlibrary Loan Technician. Since 2008, I have enjoyed working as the Liaison to the School of Public Service Leadership, working with faculty and learners to help create a positive learning environment.
I earned my BS in Education from the University of Minnesota and my Masters in Library and Information Science from Dominican University through a program at the College of St. Catherine. In my free time, I live a secret life as a science geek.
Jennie Simning – Instruction Librarian and Liaison to the Harold Able School of Social & Behavioral Science
I fell in love with research and academic libraries while working on my senior thesis at the University of Minnesota. In 2005 I began my foray into library careers when I began working as a library technician for an academic library. But I wanted more!In May 2007 I earned my MLIS degree and in May 2009 I joined the Capella Library team.
In my free time I enjoy reading, playing cards (or any games really), grilling out, camping, canoeing, and being outdoors. Every summer I look forward to an annual trip to the Minnesota Boundary Waters.
Kristin Hektner – Electronic Resources Librarian

Since graduating, she has worked primarily in business libraries providing research services and managing electronic resources.
Kristin joined Capella in 2009 as the Electronic Resources Librarian responsible for managing vendor relationships, negotiating contracts and trouble shooting technical issues.
