Researchers are responsible for completing and submitting an IRB Continuing Review Form at least six weeks prior to the expiration date of their original approval and must maintain current IRB approval until all of the following occur:
+Participant recruitment has concluded (i.e., no recruitment is in progress or anticipated). All data collection has been completed (i.e. no further collection of data from or about participants is needed).
+All interactions of interventions with participants are completed (i.e. no further contact with participants is necessary or anticipated).
+Analysis of participant identifiable private information, data, or records are concluded (i.e., no use or access to participant identifiable private information is necessary or anticipated).
Once a study is closed (all data collection and analysis of participant identifiable private information and review of source documentation have stopped) continuing oversight from the IRB is no longer necessary. Further information regarding continuing review procedures can be found in Policies and Procedures for Human Research Protections.
